Kulas make flying start in Olympic Qualifiers

The Digicel Fiji Kulas kicked off their OFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers with a dominant 10-0 victory against American Samoa today.

From the onset, the Angeline Chua coached side showed their dominance, with former skipper Sofie Diyalowai breaking the deadlock under two minutes into the game.

Diyalowai continued to thrive, completing a hat-trick by the 14th minute and setting a winning pace for the match.

The Kulas’ attacking momentum didn’t wane as Koleta Likuculacula extended the lead to 4-0 in the 32nd minute.

Cema Nasau, Ba’s star striker, made her mark by netting another goal right before the halftime whistle, concluding the first half with a comfortable 5-0 lead for Fiji.

Substitutions brought in fresh energy to the field, with Sisilia Kuladinai replacing hat-trick hero Diyalowai, Sonia Alfred replacing Likuculacula and Narieta Leba subbed with Kasanita Tabua.

The second half saw Nasau continuing her impressive performance, adding two more goals to her tally and securing a hat-trick of her own.

Tabua found the net in the 61st minute, further widening the gap.

The 72nd minute featured exemplary teamwork from the Fijian wingers, creating ample space for Preeya Singh to score, showcasing the team’s tactical execution.

Luisa Tamanitoakula’s late substitution for Nasau did not halt Fiji’s scoring spree, as cskipper Unaisi Tuberi dashed through American Samoa’s defence to score the final goal, sealing a 10-0 victory.

The Fiji Kulas are set to compete against Papua New Guinea at 2pm this Saturday and will go head-to-head with the Solomon Islands at 10 am on the following Tuesday.
