Labasa beats Nasinu, remains second

Labasa defeated Nasinu 3-1 in Round 7 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League at the Fiji FA headquarters ground in Suva today to keep its second spot intact.

The Extra Supermarket sponsored Babasiga Lions now have 14 points after seven outings while Nasinu after the loss remains at the bottom of the table with only 3 points.

The first half was pretty evenly matched as both teams scored a goal each and went to the break all even.

Eparama Moraica scored first for Labasa in the 17th minute from an acute angle.

The attempt was covered by goalkeeper Emori Ragata but it just had enough power to slip out of his grip and cross the line.

Nasinu managed to level the scores in the 41st minute as young Mikah Dau combined with Solomon Islander Don Keana to set up Ryan Chandra to score.

Christopher Wasasala scored the second goal in the 63rd minute after a shot by a Labasa player came off the cross-bar and landed into his path, giving him the chance to double the scores with Ragata left hapless.

Rusiate Doidoi hammered the final nail in Nasinu’s coffin in the 89th minute after a great setup in midfield from Sekove Naivakananumi who featured well in his new position and provided some quality balls to the finishers.
