Naitasiri focuses on finishing

Tailevu Naitasiri’s head coach Priyant Mannu voiced his frustration with the refereeing after his team’s narrow 2-1 loss to Labasa.

He pointed out the missed opportunities and a contentious penalty decision as key factors in the defeat.

“We had opportunities to score which we did not make use of it and in the last few minutes, a controversial call by the ref in giving a penalty cost us points,” he told FijiLive.

“Looking ahead we have to work on managing the game well and converting chances into goals.”

The match filled with controversy also saw Labasa officials questioning the referees over a disallowed goal, adding to the overall tension of the encounter.

Despite the loss, Naitasiri’s defense was praised for its solidity, managing to keep the game competitive.

The determination of the team shone in the second half when France Catarogo converted a penalty, tying the game at 1-1.

However, Labasa’s Christopher Wasasala scored the winning goal, sealing the match.

Tailevu Naitasiri is now 9th on the DFPL table with 4 points.
