Nasinu registered its first victory of the 2024 season after beating Tailevu Naitasiri 1-0 in a Round 6 Digicel Fiji Premier League fixture at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.
The game was saw a strong start from Nasinu and a series of missed opportunities by Tailevu Naitasiri.
The only goal of the match came early in the first half when Solomon Islands national midfielder Don Keana of Nasinu delivered a clear strike to open the scoring.
Despite numerous chances, Tailevu Naitasiri struggled to capitalize, leaving the score at 1-0 in favor of Nasinu as the teams headed into halftime.
The second half, a crucial moment arose when Tailevu Naitasiri’s Mosese Nabose was awarded a penalty following a foul near the goal.
However, the opportunity to level the match was missed as Nabose failed to convert the penalty.
Shortly after his attempt, Nabose experienced leg pain and was visibly distressed, resulting in him being substituted out for Nischal Lal.
The match concluded with Nasinu holding onto their slim lead, taking home a hard-fought 1-0 win and their first points of the competition.
