NFP and Sharma referred to FICAC

The Fijian Elections Office has referred the National Federation Party (NFP) and its representative Awadh Narayan Sharma to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said NFP and Sharma were found in probable breach of Section 116(4) of the Electoral Act 2014.

“The NFP and Awadh Narayan Sharma have both published and used language that incites hatred and discriminated against a person based on their gender,” Saneem said.

“The FEO reminds all political parties and their representatives to ensure that they comply with all relevant laws in place when undertaking campaigns for the 2022 General Election.”
