Police women win Plate final

Police women won the Plate final of the 2023 McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka today after overcoming Army 17-12.

Nippy Fijiana 7s speedster Meredani Qoro scored the opening try for Army within 35 seconds as she broke off from a Police tackle but the conversion was unsuccessful.

Police fought hard and an inflicted pass from Saulce Koroi saw Livia Naidei score the leveler under the post and she converted for a 7-5 lead.

Army tried to take the lead in the match but frequent ball losses hindered them from scoring which Police took advantage of and Litiana Lewedrau picked up a loose ball and ran to her breath to score their second try but the conversion was missed.

Police led by 12-5 at the break.

Both the service teams tussled hard in the second half despite Police putting up strong forward play.

Former ACS Sprinter Laisani Moceisawana broke off from their own scrum and dived under the post for a try while Kasanita Namocei converted to level the score at 12-12.

A long set up pass from nippy fly half Adi Ana Moceura to winger Makareta Tunidau saw her dive in the corner for the match winner.
