Sauvakacolo breaks DSU records

Fane Sauvakacolo continues to make her mark in the United States of America and broke two Dakota State University track and field records in a span of 10 days.

The former Fiji Secondary Schools girls sprint champion last week broke the DSU women’s outdoor track and field record in the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 9.75 inches for the gold medal.

DSU also competed at mini NCAA Division 1 meet- the South Dakota Challenge in Vermillion, South Dakota days later where the former Saint Joseph’s Secondary School student broke her the record of 36 feet, 8.25 inches.

Sauvakacolo set the previous record in 2022.

Sauvakacolo also set a school record during the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field meet at Minnesota State 100 metre hurdles.

Sauvakacolo clocked a time of 14.65 in the prelims round, breaking the previous school record held by Bobbi Jo Dykstra of 14.68 seconds set in 2007.
