Qereqeretabua elected Deputy Speaker

National Federation Party (NFP) Member of Parliament Lenora Qereqeretabua was today elected the Deputy Speaker of the Fijian Parliament.

Her name was moved by People’s Alliance Member of Parliament Lynda Tabuya while FijiFirst MP Alvick Maharaj nominated Viliame Naupoto.

Tabuya and Maharaj acted as observers and scrutinized at the count table following a secret ballot voting from the newly sworn-in Members of the Parliament.

Qereqeretabua secured 28 votes while Naupoto managed to get 27 votes.
