Samabula men arrested with marijuana leaves

Two men residing in Samabula were arrested at the Delainavesi checkpoint today with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

The two were arrested after officers noticed them acting in a suspicious manner.

Their vehicle was searched and the discovery dried leaves was made.

Chief Operations Officer Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu  said similar checkpoints will be set up throughout the long weekend.

Random breathalyzer tests will also be conducted at snap roadblock throughout the day.

A/ACP Driu said traffic Operations are also focused on awareness and reminding drivers to be cautious and if they’re tired to stop by at their nearest Community Post and rest.

He said the Fiji Police is focused on providing safe environment for all to enjoy, however members of the public must also play their part in adhering to the advice and warnings issued.
