FijiFA pioneers ‘Totolo Futupolo’ Initiative

Fiji Football Association took centre stage at the STEP UP Oceania conference where it looked at innovative approaches towards nurturing local football talent.

With an emphasis on the “Totolo Futupolo” initiative, Fiji FA is championing a new era of talent development that deeply resonates with Fiji’s rich cultural heritage.

FijiFA’s Technical General Manager Technical, Timo Jankowski and General Manager Operations, Anushil Kumar presented a compelling narrative of the association’s efforts over the past two and a half years.

These efforts are squarely focused on identifying promising young talents across the nation and providing them with the necessary support to flourish.

“Every talent in Fiji deserves an opportunity to thrive,” emphasized Jankowski.

This principle is vividly brought to life through “Totolo Futupolo,” an initiative that tailors talent development strategies to align with the Fijian way of life, making it a culturally attuned pathway to success for aspiring footballers.

From the grassroots to the global stage, Jankowski provided real-life success stories of players who have journeyed from remote areas of Fiji to represent their country internationally.

These stories looked at the transformative impact of Fiji FA’s focused initiatives, such as the McDonald’s League and FIFA Football for Schools program, on the lives of young athletes.

In closing, Jankowski extended his gratitude to schools and districts across Fiji for their instrumental role in nurturing the next generation of footballers.
