Cakaudrove High Chief and head of the Tovata Confederacy, Na Turaga Na Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu will open the two-day Cakaudrove Provincial Meeting today.
In a statement posted on his social media page, Ratu Naiqama said the top priority for his province is advocating for support and collaboration toward the introduction of Fiji National University’s rural-focused educational initiatives.
Ratu Naiqama said this would be tailored to meet the needs of Taveuni, particularly in areas such as diving.
The proposed budget for the Provincial Council’s financial year 2024-2025 will be presented during the session, alongside updates on development projects within the province from the Office of the Commissioner Northern and the Provincial Administrator Cakaudrove.
Yesterday, Ratu Naiqama also chaired the Bose ni Qoliqoli Cokovata of the Cakaudrove and Tunuloa districts, addressing various concerns including the terms and conditions surrounding Qoliqoli licenses since the last gathering in 2022.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka together with senior Cabinet members will be attending the provincial council meeting.
