A 52-year-old man from Delainavesi in Lami is in custody for allegedly assaulting his wife at their home yesterday morning.
According to Police, the incident was triggered by alcohol.
The victim sustained injuries and was conveyed to the Lami Health Centre and later transferred to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital where she remains admitted.
