Bystanders assist in arrest of suspect

The Fiji Police Force has commended the quick action of bystanders which resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old man following an aggravated robbery case in Suva Point on Sunday night.

Chief of Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said the two victims were walking near the Suva Point Seawall when the suspect and two others robbed them of their phones and personal items.

A group of bystanders, who came to the assistance of the two men, pursued the three suspects where they were able to apprehend the 20-year-old suspect.

Khan said the identity of the other two suspects have been established and efforts are being directed towards their arrest.

He has also commended the brave actions of all those involved in the arrest.

The suspect sustained injuries and was taken for medical treatment as investigations continue.
