Drua Women focus on defence ahead of semis

The Rooster chicken Fijian Drua Women’s team is set to intensify their defensive training ahead of their crucial semifinal match against Western Force this Friday.

Following a challenging game against the Rebels, the Head Coach of the Drua Women Mosese Rauluni has recognised the need for improvements in their defensive tactics.

“This week we really need to improve on our tackles. Our consistency hasn’t been good. Against the Rebels, the jersey pulling and no low chopping tackles were pretty disappointing and gave them easy yards,” he said.

The game against the Rebels served as a stark reminder of the competitive nature of the league, despite the opposition’s lower ranking.

“I think the game against Rebels was a reminder that they were at the bottom of the table but they came out and performed very well.”

The upcoming game against Western Force is seen as a critical opportunity for redemption and improvement.

“We have only won one game in Fiji against Western Force, the games before taught us a lesson and we don’t wanna be taught that lesson once again against Western Force.”

“We really need to be on our sole and stay committed to the job and stay committed to the game plan,” the coach added.

The Fijian Drua women will face Western Force this Friday at 4:35 PM at HFC Stadium in Suva.
