Fiji tops pool, faces Spain in quarters

Fiji enters the Cup quarterfinals of the Los Angeles 7s unbeaten after overcoming France 14-10 in its final pool match today.

Jordan Sepho struck first in the match after a neat feed from Antoine Dupont.

The try was unconverted and Fiji managed to find its momentum just before the break and Captain Napolioni Bolaca’s smart tactics sent lanky Ponipate Loganimasi over the try-line and Bolaca converted for a 7-5 halftime lead.

Filipe Sauturaga came off the bench in the second spell and scored Fiji’s second try after a clean break from Viliame Naikausa.

Bolaca again converted to extend Fiji’s lead by 14-5.

France did not give up and scored a late unconverted try through Nelson Epee.

Fiji will now play Spain in the third Cup quarterfinal at 4.10pm today.

In other quarters, USA will take on France, leaders Argentina will meet Ireland while Australia will face Great Britain.
