Haider sets sights on US boxing scene

Fijian Boxer, Ubbayd Haider (formerly known as Nathan Singh) is setting his sights on the United States for his next big fight, scheduled for October 2024.

His promoter and manager, Alan Kumar is orchestrating a strategic plan to make this a reality.

In an interview with FijiLive, Kumar revealed that they have already secured an agent in the USA who has booked Haider for a fight in October.

However, there are specific prerequisites that Haider must fulfill to make this international leap.

“The first requirement is for Ubbayd Haider to win three local fights to prove himself and earn a spot in a promotion in the USA,” explained Kumar.

Additionally, securing a Pacific Oceania Title before October is also a key step in this process.

To facilitate this, Kumar is planning to host a boxing promotion in June.

“I’m trying to get PBC Oceania Regional Title so he can compete, get the title to himself, and then travel to the US for the fight,”

This event will also serve as an opportunity for Haider to be scouted by the USA agent, who plans to visit Fiji to witness him fight.

Kumar emphasized the financial implications of this ambitious venture, calling on promoters and stakeholders for support.

“It takes $80k to $100k to get there,”

“It’s not for him only, we are doing this for every boxer in Fiji to get some more exposure,” he said

He sees Haider’s venture as a pathway for other local boxers to gain international exposure and demonstrate their talent on a larger stage.
