Losing start for Fiji in Hong Kong 7s

The Fiji men’s 7s side opened its campaign in the Hong Kong 7s with a 12-0 loss to Australia tonight.

Fiji started well and had good possession in the first three minutes of the match.

Forward Josese Batirerega had the chance to open the scoring but lost the ball in a tackle on the line.

The Australians got their hands on the ball and set up James Turner to score in the fifth minute and lead 5-0.

Fiji tried to get back but the Aussies kept their cool and managed to weather the storm and narrowly led at the break.

Henry Hutchinson, playing his 50th match tonight, made it more special for him and his country by scoring their second and final try of the match in the 10th minute.

Michael Hooper made his much awaited debut in the 12th minute and made a crucial turnover towards the end of the match to deny the Fijians from getting on the score-board.
