Nadi beats Navua, extends lead in DFPL

Nadi registered its third straight win in the Digicel Fiji Premier League today after overcoming Navua 2-1 at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour.

Both teams entered this fixture unbeaten, with Nadi posting wins over Tailevu Naitasiri and Nasinu while Navua defeated Nadroga and held champions Lautoka.

A powerful strike from Zainal Ali gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at the breather.

The Jetsetters entered the second stanza of the match with much more focus and the urge to win.

Despite losing Shaheel Valentine to a red card, veteran Ame Votoniu managed to find the equaliser for the visitors through a header from a corner kick.

Solomon Islands import Clivert Sam netted the winner for Nadi late in the match after heading in a William Valentine free-kick.

Nadi remains on top of the standings with 9 points while Navua has 4 points from three outings.
