Nasinu falls short against champs Lautoka

Newly promoted Nasinu side displayed a commendable performance against defending champions Lautoka, despite a 4-2 defeat in the first match of the 2024 Digicel Fiji Premier League at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour today.

Lautoka’s offense was led by star striker Sairusi Nalaubu, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute, setting the pace for the match.

Contributions from Epeli Leiroti and Usman Omede extended Lautoka’s lead.

Nasinu, undeterred by the early goals, found  hope through striker Ratu Apenisa Anare, who managed to breach Lautoka’s defence and score, narrowing the gap to 3-1.

The second half witnessed Omede completing his brace, further solidifying Lautoka’s lead.

However,  Ratu Anare wasn’t finished, scoring once more for Nasinu and ending the match with a personal and team high note, despite the scoreline.
