Ravunawa questions Govt’s intentions

Opposition Member of Parliament, Penioni Ravunawa claims Fijians have been waiting since the beginning of the current financial statement to seek free private medical care and has questioned the Coalition Government’s intentions.

He said under the previous Government, over 50,000 Fijian received faster healthcare services with private GPs and Dental Practitioner services with a total cost of over $1.4 million.

Ravunawa said the initiatives took the load off public hospitals and ensured faster access to health services by Fijians.

He said this is a right enshrined in section 38 of the 2013 Fijian Constitution for Government to provide adequate conditions and facilities necessary to good health, and to ensure access to health care services.

“We are calling on the Coalition Fiji Government to expedite the approval process. We stand united in our call for action. The Health and welfare of every Fijian matters,” he said.

The FijiFirst MP reminded the Coalition Government of its promise, that is, that no one must be left behind.

Questions have been sent to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services for their response.
