Sigh of relief for bottom-placed Nasinu

Nasinu clinched their first victory of the season in the Digicel Fiji Premier League’s 6th round, edging  Tailevu Naitasiri 1-0 win.

The victory brought a sigh of relief and a burst of pride from Head Coach Tagi Vonolagi, who lauded his team’s performance.

“Hats off to the boys, they played a 100% effort, youth boys that came in played well, senior boys are there to guide them, and we just progressed from the game against Rewa and Suva last week.”

“I think we played good in defense and in attack also with Naita as they are more experienced than us.”

With the league far from over, the coach pointed out the competitive nature of the standings. “It’s not over yet. If you look at the points table, Naita is on 4 points, Suva on 5 points so the battle is on in the last 3 games,” said Vonolagi.

Vonolagi also touched on the broader goals for Nasinu FA which focuses on survival and future building.

“We are here to survive and build up for next year because this is a very young side and many senior players have left us. We are only left with a few, and the rest are youth boys. So we want to survive the super premier,” he stated.
