Suva will host the 2024 Oceania Athletics Championship, the largest-ever area championship ever to be held in the region.
Over 1,100 athletes from more than 22 countries across the Pacific will converge on Fiji’s capital.
This year’s championships are particularly significant as they lead up to the Paris Olympic Games and the 2025 World Athletics Championship in Tokyo.
As such, they are attracting top-tier athletes and teams, including the Australian team who are looking to finalize its lineup for Paris following recent successes at the World Relay Championships in the Bahamas.
For the first time in history, the event will simultaneously host the Senior, Para Championships, Under 18 Championship, and the Oceania Masters Championship.
Local schools and clubs are also in for a treat with the Under 20 and Under 16 Team events.
These competitions provide another exciting opportunity for young athletes to prove themselves against the region’s best.
