T/Naitasiri readies defence for Labasa clash

Tailevu Naitasiri’s Head coach Priyant Mannu says tightening the team’s defensive structure and capitalising on offensive opportunities will be crucial in their quest for a victory over Labasa on Sunday.

Despite a three-week break, the team has maintained a steady training regime, with the full squad now back in action.

“Preparations have been going well. Despite having a three-week break, we continued training and this week managed to have a full squad as few boys joined after their religious tournaments,” he said.

“Looking at Labasa, they are a much stronger and more experienced side, but it won’t stop us from trying our best on game day. We are working a lot on our defensive structure without possession and hoping our attackers finish off chances they get.”

Despite some minor injuries within the squad, the head coach is confident of having a fully fit team by game day. “Few niggling injuries but all should be 100 per cent before Sunday,” he said.

Tailevu Naitasiri faces the Babasiga Lions at Ratu Cakabau Park in Nausori at 2pm.
