Tuqiri will add the extra edge: Byrne

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Head Coach Mick Byrne believes new inclusion Emosi Tuqiri will add more strength and pace to the front row in the new season of Super Rugby Pacific.

Byrne said the former Fiji Under-20 player with his size and speed would add an extra edge up front.

“He is a big man and a big strong prop,” Byrne told FijiLive.

We want to develop that part of our game, and when we talk about Super Rugby, the challenge for us in that area, is that a lot of our props have to cover a lot of kilometres to stay upto speed with Super Rugby.

“When we look at the All Black props and the fitness they have around the field, that is our benchmark and we need to bring in guys that have a start in that.

Byrne added that mobility in the front row will be key for every prop.
