Work begins on damaged water line

Repair works on the damaged 600mm main line along Princes Road have started, however the Water Authority of Fiji is yet to confirm when water supply will normalise.

WAF in a statement said their teams were able to complete the dewatering of the fault site and expose the damaged pipeline to carry out the necessary damage assessment and repair works.

Due to the depth of the trench now exceeding 2m, WAFs night shift repair team is widening the trench to provide adequate and safe working space for WAF personnel to undertake the necessary repair works.

Multiple utility services are located on site including High Voltage underground EFL Power cable which the team is working its way around to access the pipe.

Safety precautions are being taken not to damage other utility services, especially the EFL power line which poses a safety risk to all on-site.
