1,500 officers deployed for Election

Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan says 1,500 Police officers have been deployed around the country for the 2022 General Election.

ACP Khan said these officers were posted at their respective locations yesterday afternoon and early today.

“Officers have been deployed on the ground to assist the Fijian Elections Office and also the voters for their safety and for a safe and conducive environment for all.”

“We have set up the election command centre to ease the election operations. The teams here at the command centre are connected to the five divisions where the officers have been deployed.”

“78 CCTV cameras are hooked up at the main event venue to monitor the operations. Body cams are used by the Police Officers to get the live feed from the ground.”

Khan also acknowledged the communities around the country for their cooperation with the Police Force on Election day.
