Prince Harry to attend Coronation without Meghan

The Duke of Sussex Prince Harry will attend his father King Charles’s Coronation alone in the United Kingdom.

In a statement, the Palace said: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

Prince Harry had spent several weeks agonising over whether to travel to London for the historic ceremony because of the deep rift that has divided his family.

Meghan has not returned to the UK since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September. with the couple’s two children, three-year-old Archie and Lilibet, aged one.

Many factors influenced the Duchess’s decision not to attend the Coronation, but chief among them was the desire to celebrate Archie’s fourth birthday, which falls on the same day – May 6, The Telegraph reports.

Archie and Lilibet were not formally invited to the Coronation as Buckingham Palace aides waited to hear whether they would make the trip before factoring them into any plans.

Both the King and Prince William are understood to feel deeply betrayed by the many personal family revelations the Duke made in his memoir, Spare, and in various interviews.
