Rokoura applauds team effort at Games

Fiji Pearls head coach Una Rokoura has applauded the efforts displayed in clinching Silver at the 17the Pacific Games which concluded over the weekend in the Solomon Islands.

The Pearls secured Silver after an intense showdown that saw them narrowly miss out on the Gold, falling short by four points against Tonga Tala 56-52.

Netball Fiji representatives showcased an electric atmosphere with early momentum from both teams in the first quarter.

“I’m incredibly proud of the girls for their commitment throughout the week, they showcased brilliant skills and played their hearts out until the final whistle,” Rokoura said.

“We entered the game with a clear goal of clinching the Gold, while we missed out on a few crucial plays that Tonga capitalised on, I commend my team for leaving everything on the court, and congratulations to Tonga for their well-deserved win.”

She also emphasised on the essence of sporting competitions saying, “We aimed for the Gold and fell short, but that’s the nature of competitions. What truly matters is the spirit and effort our team displayed.”
