UTOF valued at $431m, eyes modernisation

Unit Trust of Fiji’s 2023 total fund under management stands at $431 million, a net movement of $60 million over the last 12 months.

With the organisation almost reaching the half-a-billion mark, UTOF Chair Lavinia Kaumaitotoya in a media conference today said they intend to modernise their services to be in line with international best practices and strengthen their internal capacity.

She said they also intend to explore emerging markets and more importantly keep the unit holders’ expectations central to the decision-making process.

Kaumaitotoya thanked its 60,580 investment holders for their trust and unwavering commitment enabling UTOF to be relentless in its pursuit to provide the best support services.

As of 31 December 2023, the Unit Trust of Fiji paid out $5.5 million in its final tax-free dividend payout for the second six months period.

Kaumaitotoya said the dividend payout rate that they announced was 3.5 cents per unit of the Income and Growth Fund and an annualized dividend rate of 2.75 per cent for the Income Fund.

She said that the total tax-free dividend for 2023 is $10.78 million out of which $9.64 million, and $1.14 million were paid to the Income and Growth Fund and its Investment Fund investors respectively.

The Chair also announced that UTOF’s Income and Growth Fund has recorded an unprecedented total return of 9.35 per cent which comprises of 2.85 per cent dividend yield and a capital gain of 6.5 per cent.
