There is a complaint with FICAC: Prasad

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says that there is an active investigation against him with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Speaking to FijiLive when asked if he had already been questioned by FICAC, Professor Biman Prasad said he was not able to comment on the matter.

Prof Prasad said that he was surprised that the Fijian Elections Office did not put to him the allegation of breach of the Political Parties Act 2014 and falsifying and non-declaration of assets.

In an earlier interview, he said that he did not see how the Acting Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa could reach the view that there was a case for the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption to investigate without first asking for answers from him.

Prof Prasad said that his attorneys will write to the Fijian Elections Office on the matter.

“I can assure the FEO and the public that the allegations in respect of my declaration as reported are completely malicious and without substance,” he said.
