Amjad Ali referred to FICAC

The Fijian Elections Office has referred the People’s Alliance representative Amjad Ali to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for probable breach of Section 114(1) and 141 of the Electoral Act 2014.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said they have received several complaints from various Zakat recipients who have alleged that Ali in distributing Zakat food vouchers coerced them into voting for Sitiveni Rabuka.

“The FEO reminds all political parties and their representatives to ensure that they comply with all relevant laws in place when undertaking campaigns for the 2022 General Election,” said Saneem.
