Fiji Under 16 return to camp

The Fiji under 16 team returned to camp today at the Fiji Football Academy in Suva today to finalise their preparation for the OFC Under 17 Championship in January next year.

Head Coach Sunil Kumar confirmed to FijiLive today that the 22-member squad was released for a short break earlier last week and the players have marched into camp today.

Kumar said the players will remain in camp until their final lapse of training is completed and the team is ready for the OFC qualification.

“The players have marched into camp today and we are fully focused on the OFC qualification.”

“The Under 19 team’s qualification to the World Cup itself is a big boost for these players.”

“We have some final training left and I’m confident that this is enough till the qualification, we’ll put up a strong preparation.”

“Our focus is on the first match and we are working hard towards that.”

The OFC U17 Championship will be played from January 11 to 28 at HFC Bank Stadium and Fiji FA Academy Grounds in Ba.

The Fiji Under 17 has been drawn in Group A with Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and Samoa.

Fiji kick starts its campaign against Samoa on January 11 at HFC Bank Stadium before playing PNG on 15 January and wrapping up their final group match against Tonga on 18 January.
