A heavy rain alert is now in place for the Northern Division, Lau and the Lomaiviti Group and occasional rain, heavy at times and isolated thunderstorms can be expected for the rest of Fiji.
The Fiji Meteorological Office says a low pressure system with an associated trough lies over Fiji and heavy rain can result in flash flooding of low lying areas, localised flooding of irish crossings and informal settlements and some disruption to traffic flow and poor visibility.
The weather situation is expected to improve by next week Tuesday.
