Kadavu’s U20 and Women’s teams triumphed over Nadroga during the Tauvu Rugby Day at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka today.
The event, organized by the Kadavu Rugby Union, aimed to expose their players to top-tier competition, with the U20 team narrowly edging out Nadroga 17-15, and the Women’s team dominating with a 36-12 victory.
Despite a closely contested match, the Kadavu Men’s team faced a slight defeat, 18-24, against the experienced Nadroga side.
These pre-season matches are part of Kadavu’s preparations for the upcoming Provincial Rugby Competitions, with the union leveraging this opportunity for exposure, experience, and to assess their fitness against tier 1 competition.
Kadavu Rugby Union President, Lynda Tabuya, thanked the supporters and the Nadroga Rugby Union for hosting the tournament.
“It’s a very exciting time for Kadavu, and we would like to thank Nadroga for hosting us today and for graciously preparing Lawaqa Park for our teams to have their first try at Provincial Rugby,” she said.
The Kadavu teams, having camped out of Vunisea for the past month, look forward to building on this experience.
“This exposure to high-level competition is invaluable for our teams as we gear up for the competitive season ahead,” Tabuya added.
