Truth, Justice and honesty will stand: Prasad

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says arrogance, dictatorship, greed, and self-interest will always be vanquished by the principles of truth, justice, righteousness, honesty, and integrity.

As Hindus in Fiji and around the world celebrate the birth of Lord Ram, Prof Prasad wished Hindus a blessed and inspirational Ram Naumi, said the road to achieving success for the betterment and common good of our people is and will be challenging.

In a statement, the Leader of the National Federation Party said Lord Ram has shown that irrespective of the perilous nature of the journey, success can only be achieved through honesty, dedication, hard work, and being committed at all times towards the greater good of everyone.

“The nine days of Ram Naumi is full of recitals of the Holy Ramayana. The teachings should be part of our daily lives. It inculcates into our pride and patriotism. It’s about following the path of truth, justice, righteousness, honesty, integrity, good governance, and humility. It teaches us to always follow this path no matter what lies ahead. It emphatically reminds us that short-term pain will result in long-term gain.”

“Lord Ram’s birth, life, struggles while in exile for 14 years, and ultimate victory of mankind over an arrogant and dictatorial ruler who regarded himself as immortal and invincible reminds us to be principled, kind, and compassionate at all times.”

“Many amongst us have and still believe in personal advancement over national interest. Lord Ram has shown us that this is extremely detrimental. Simply, short-term gain will result in long-term pain.”

The Deputy Prime Minister said let us all shirk this unholy trait because it can cause irreparable damage to the social, moral, and political fabric of our nation.

He said the virtuous Lord Ram sacrificed his interest for the greater good of humanity. Ultimately he prevailed because he never deviated from his principles and that is why his virtues are eternal.”

“May the legacy of Lord Ram inspire and shower upon us His blessings,” Prof Prasad said.
