The A-League’s newest club will officially be known as Auckland FC after they unveiled their team name, logo and inaugural jersey yesterday.
Auckland FC will enter the A-Leagues from 2024-25 – the Isuzu UTE A-League next season and the Liberty A-League in 2025-26.
The club will play in an electric blue and black New Balance kit for their maiden season, with their badge building on Auckland’s traditional royal blue while the Black Knight visor and the stripes in the badge link the crest to Auckland FC founder Bill Foley and the teams that form part of the Black Knight Football Group.
“What I love about football is that it has an incredible power to inspire anyone, no matter their age or background,” said owner Bill Foley, who is also owns Premier League side Bournemouth through his Black Knight Football Club.
“We can’t wait to get started, nurture talent, accelerate the pathway for promising players here and overseas, and showcase Auckland and its culture.”
Heading into their inaugural Isuzu UTE A-League season, Auckland FC have already appointed Sydney FC legend Steve Corica as their head coach.
Terry McFlynn is also Auckland FC’s director of football, overseeing the club’s player and coach recruitment for the men’s, women’s and Academy teams, football operations and sports science.
Auckland FC CEO Nick Becker said: “We are building the elite professional team that Auckland deserves. We want to be successful on the pitch, and we want to create a club that represents Tāmaki Makaurau for generations to come.
“Today is just the beginning of a very exciting journey and we can’t wait to build the future together with our community and our fans.”
Corica added: “I’m looking forward to helping build the club from the ground up, foster a strong attacking team known for their entertaining style of football, and attract some of the best talent to grow with the club.
“We’ll have some exciting player announcements to make from June 2024.”
