Fiji thumps Uruguay to finish 9th

The Fiji 7s team ended its campaign in ninth place at the Dubai 7s this morning after thrashing Uruguay 47-0.

The Ben Gollings coached side were in the driving seat throughout, running in a total of 7 tries.

Uruguay struggled throughout and found it hard to contain the skillful Fijians who led at the break 26-0.

Fiji scored tries through Jeremaia Matana, Filipe Sauturaga, Pilipo Bukayaro and Tira Wilagi with Sauturaga adding two convesions and Iowane Raturaciri a third.

Wilagi scored again in the eigth minute with Ratuciri crossing in the 13th minute before Paula Nayacakalou ran in the final try a minute after the final whistle.

Sauturaga added two more conversions with Josua Vakurunabili converting the final points of the match.
