Fijiana finish 5th in Dubai

It was sweet revenge for the Fijiana 7s team as they finished in fifth place after beating Ireland 28-12 in the Dubai 7s playoff this morning.

Ireland had earlier beaten Fiji in pool play 24-17.

It was a close first half, with the Fijiana leading 14-12 at the break with worked tries through Raijieli Daveua in the first minute and Lavenia Cavuru after the half-time whistle who also converted both tries.

The Irish kept in touch as Bebhinn Parsons and Leigh Murphy Crowe crossed over to score, with one try converted by Lucy Mulhall.

Two tries in the second half from Ana Maria Naimasi and speed queen Younis Bese saw Fiji seal their win for a top five finish.

Naimasi and Reapi Uluinasau converted one try each.
