Minister incurred $16K phone bill, NFP claims

National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad claims a FijiFirst Minister incurred a phone bill for $16,000 for the month of September and wants the Government to reveal the name of the Minister.

Prof Prasad while launching the Party’s Vision Document in Suva today asked if this what the taxpayers are paying for?

“Are we paying for an uncaring, selfish Government which does what it wants?

” The Fijian people must be told.”

“When we get into Government we will open the books and we do not know what sort of mess we will find and we know about the FijiFirst debt.”

“However, we do not know about the extent of waste, pilferage and corruption we will find… these people have been in power for 16 years.”

“How can Frank Bainimarama pay himself more than $300,000 per year when so many people live in poverty?”

The National Federation Party will in the first 100 days and then for our first six months, we will slash ministerial salaries and allowances by one-third.

“Why? To show leadership, to show that we are not there for ourselves and to set the tone for good Government.”

“We will end the motorcades and flashy Government cars, to remind everyone including ourselves that we are the servant of the people and not their masters,” he added.

Meanwhile, FijiLive has reached out to the FijiFirst Party for a response.
