No Fiji judokas, bodybuilders for Pacific Games

Team Fiji will not field teams in Judo and Bodybuilding at the Pacific Games later this year.

2023 Pacific Games Chef de Mission Ajay Ballu confirmed that Fiji has opted out of the two sports as both national federations are facing some obstacles.

“Bodybuilding has a governance issue, they did not have any annual general meeting, where we have rules within the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee that if you do not comply you cannot go,” Ballu confirmed.

“The other is Judo which missed the bond payment deadline.”

Ballu said it was unfortunate that they were to lose the two sports at this year’s game but believed they would come around stronger and better.

However, 27 sports have confirmed their participation at this year’s Pacific Games.
