Navua bounced back to winning ways and outclassed Suva 5-2 in an interesting Digicel Fiji Premier League Round 6 fixture at the Fiji Football Association headquarters ground in Vatuwaqa today.
After a 1-0 loss to Rewa in the last round, the Saiyad Ali coached side entered the field with a lot of determination and focus.
Flick Suva got first on the score-sheet in the 6th minute through youngster Shainal Lal but a penalty nine minutes later saw Solomon Islander Jared Rongosulia level the scores.
The Whites suffered a set-back with goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva leaving thee field after a shoulder injury and his departure had a huge impact on the outcome on the game as his replacement Hasmukh Patel looked shaky and hapless on many occasions.
Thomas Dunn put Navua ahead in the 33rd minute, straight after Mateisuva’s departure.
Solomon Islander Ali Mekawir further extended Navua’s lead with the pile-driver in the 38th minute to give them a comfortable 3-1 halftime lead.
Dunn got his second goal of the afternoon in the 55th minute before Filipe Baravilala scored the goal of the match in the 66th minute with a free-kick from outside the box which left the goalkeeper and the Suva defence stunned.
Kavaia Rawaqa managed to get a consolation in the 82nd minute but it was not enough to stop Navua’s domination.
