“May I offer some fatherly advice to you as you venture forth: Play as a Team, look after one another, go the extra mile, always give your best,” he advised.

Drawing a parallel between the team and the rare golden cowrie shell known as ‘Bulikula,’ the President highlighted the unique and exceptional nature of the women’s team.

“The cowrie possesses a porcelain-like shine that resembles a dazzling uniqueness of beauty, thus in my humble opinion an apt and relevant comparison to our women,” he remarked.

Coach Vela Tawake Nadakuitavuki revealed that preparations for the championship started in November last year through the RISE Rookie Academy program.

“The Championships will provide a new opportunity for athletes in the Pacific to play and develop professionally, and will inspire a generation of girls across our region.”
