The Ministry of Education has announced salary step movements for 4884 hired staff.
Out of this, 739 are Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers, 3993 assistant teachers and 152 non-teaching officers.
They will receive the payout from Pay 6.
Education Minister Viliame Gavoka said this stepwise increment for eligible staff is the first phase of salary realignment across the workforce in the Ministry based on the guidelines provided by MCS, which will be followed by subsequent phases.
He said investing in ECE Teachers and Assistant Teachers is a strategic investment in the quality, stability, and sustainability of the foundation of learning.
Gavoka said salary step increase for schools’ leadership positions will be considered upon the completion of the school re-classification exercise with the intention of its inclusion in the next Financial Year budget proposal.
“The school re- classification will have significant implications on various stakeholders and the education system.”
“Ministry of Education will review the current classification of schools, a reflection on our ongoing efforts to assess and improve the quality, equity and effectiveness of education systems in our country.”
