Unsettled weather expected to continue

A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain continues to affect the country.

The Fiji Meteorological Service in its latest bulletin says upon passing of this trough, possibly by Sunday, another trough of low pressure is expected to affect the country from early next week.

These systems are expected to continue to bring periods of rain, heavy at times and consequently, a Heavy Rain Warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji Group.

Low-lying and flood-prone locations may experience flash floods as a result of localized heavy rainfall.

The ground is saturated with continuous rain of the past couple of days. This increases the risk of flash flooding and landslides.

A Flash Flood Alert is in force for all flood-prone areas, small streams and low-lying areas of the Fiji Group.

Gusty conditions are possible in squally thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, a Strong Wind Warning is in force for Yasawa and Southwest Viti Levu Waters,
Kadavu and Vatu-i_ra Passages, Koro Seas, and Southern Lau Waters.
